Pat's Knitting and Quilting
December 20, 2010
1st, in the spirit of Christmas, I made 2 little quilted ornaments. Pattern is called Trim the Tree and is available at My Time. A great way to use up tiny leftover bits and pieces of fabric.
I'm waiting for sunshine so I can take some bright pictures of a completed quilt. In the meantime, I'll show you all the various stages of my projects at this moment in time. There are 9 quilts, counting the one I just completed.
#1 & 2 Stars Over Bali Skies - a beautiful block of the month that won't be finished for 7 more months. Stitchen' Heaven is so generous with each month's fabric, that I am able to squeeze an extra tiny lap quilt in along with the big quilt :-)
#3 Galactic Explosion - A BOM designed by Nancy Rink is all sandwiched and ready for quilting - it's not going to be easy to wield this big quilt through my little machine, but I'm going to give it a try.
#4 Playing with "crumbs" leftover from years of quilting - I have several boxes of these tiny leftover pieces that I just couldn't throw out.
Here is a before and after picture. I just randomly sew them together and then cut the squares out - Not sure of the final plan, but I'm going to make LOTS of these little 3" squares - 60 done.
#5 Next is a free online BOM called Oh My Stars - I'm going with a totally different colorway since I have so many of these country colors in my stash - Blocks 1 and 2 are done - waiting for January...
#6 A fun mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter called Roll Roll Cotton Boll - 1st picture has clues 1 -4.
Now I'm working on clue 5 - 300 HST in red and neutral
#7 Pulled out bright colors for a simple child's quilt to donate - 1st top done. I may play with free motion machine quilting on this one.
#8 I decided to use up ALL the strips, so am making bright log cabin blocks for another donation quilt
So there are the 8 quilts in progress - it looks out of control, but it really isn't. I do the mystery clues and monthly blocks as they arrive and in between work on the other quilts. Not nearly as time consuming as knitting (hopefully I'll be back to at least a little knitting in the near future)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is done - Sooooo cute - pictures soon - probably after Christmas, since we have company coming~
Back to the old comment system - I was bombarded with spam on my little homemade one :(
