Handspun TTL Mystery Shawl

As light as air - perfect little summer shawl!

TTL Mystery Shawl

I won this gorgeous braid of 50/50 merino/silk from Kristin of All Spun Up during the December 2011 SAL of "Lily Pond" - she dyed it in beautiful blues just for me - lucky lucky girl that I am!!!
I used 12 grams of it in my recent batts and spun the remaining 91 grams into 677 yards of lace weight 2 ply yarn - perfect for the mystery shawl! More fiber/yarn pictures here.

Pattern: TTL Mystery Shawl 2012- another excellent pattern designed by Kirstin Kapur of Through the Loops
Needles: US 6 for shawl/ US 7 for bind-off
Size: 53" X 20"
Yarn: 2.1 ounces (62 grams) Handspun Merino Silk

This is such a fun way to knit a shawl - I finished each clue before the next arrived - Kirsten divided and dispersed them perfectly. Without being able to see into the future, I never felt overwhelmed...just took it a little section at a time. I was a little worried that the subtle blue striping would disrupt the lace pattern, but I actually really like it - gives it a little extra beauty :)

I used the Estonian Lace bind off in Knitted Lace of Estonia with my yarn doubled - wonderful very stretchy bind off. Here is a close up of the pretty wavy edging.
