Handspun Erato

I've been wanting to make one of Romi's Small Shawls for a long time and when this pattern came out, I knew it was "the one"

Handpsun Erato

My Snow Iris's match perfectly!

Snow Iris

Starting with some gorgeous Rambouillet Fiber in Polar Night from Julie Spins - I spun 4.7 ounces/ 597 yards of sport weight regular 3 ply. This was the 1st handpainted roving that I bought when I got my wheel 2 years ago - I still can't get over how rich and beautiful it is!

Rambouilet Handspun

I have never had a shawl fit/stay on my shoulders so well - the shaping is such that it just stays there!

Handspun Erato

The handspun yarn created such soft subtle striping - perfect for this pattern!

Pattern: Erato (Ravelry Link) by Rosemary Hill
Yarn: 3.7 ounces (107 grams) - approx. 475 yards of 3 ply Handspun Rambouillet in Polar Nights dyed by Julie Spins
Needles: circular 40" US 5 (3.75,mm)
Size: 21" length; 42" across shoulders; 47" around neck - perfect size for me! Did one repeat of chart H (I had enough yarn for another, but liked the ratio of edging to body after 1 repeat)
Mods: Heavier yarn/bigger needles - otherwise made it exactly as written - a very detailed wonderful pattern!

Here is how I blocked it. As I said before - I like the shape of this shawl!

a close up of the pretty lace edging - I love the little flair out garter wedges!

A completely enjoyable project from spin to finish!
