Handspun Chevron Love
When I saw this braid - I knew I wanted some bright lively mittens!
Dyed by Kate of Woolgatherings - this is "Feathers" one of the options for the Completely Twisted and Arbitrary Rav Group Spin Along - I had never spun her fiber and jumped on this opportunity.
I divided up the colors and spun a regular 3 ply yarn with each one for a total of 4 ounces - 201 yards of worsted/aran weight yarn - perfect for my mitten plan! Several years ago I had knit a sport weight yarn kit pair of these mittens and I knew I wanted a nice thick aran weight yarn pair.
Pattern: Chevron Love Mittens by Julia Vesper of Knitterly Things
Size: Woman's Medium - 8 1/2" circumference, 9 1/2" length - modified pattern to 48 stitches instead of 60 due to heavier yarn.
Yarn: 4 ounces of handspun Woolgathering BFL in "Feathers" colorway - 200 yards of regular 3 ply aran weight yarn - used every single bit - it you look at the thumb on the mitten to the right, you'll see that I ran out of pink - substituted using some doubled fingering wt. yarn leftover from these socks :)
Needles: US 5 40" circular needle
Modifications: None other than changing stitch count as noted
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these mittens - the BFL is so silky and soft - they are thick and cushy, stranded with this fat poofy yarn - and such a quick knit with size 5 needles. I know they will be worn and loved all winter!
and the mandatory woodpile picture :)
