The I Make Mittens group on Ravelry had a fun July Mystery Mitten KAL designed by Torirot and I decided to join in since I had so much fun with my last mystery mittens. (AND she is a wonderful Norwegian designer so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed!)
Started with this beautiful bright braid of Falkland Wool hand painted by FatCatKnits in Montpelier colorway.
Divided it up into 4 color groups. I left the brown and olive green areas out for another project (see at the end of post) and drumcarded some natural falkland with the brown from Montpelier for the light background color.
4 skeins of 3 ply fingering weight yarn all ready to go.
As is usual with mystery knitting, it was so difficult to decide on color placement without knowing the pattern and I probably would have chosen differently had I known up front what they looked like, but I still really like them and completely enjoyed the whole mystery process. Looking forward to each little clue and trying to figure out where the pattern is going is so much fun especially when you have a great designer like Torirot!
Pattern: En gåte på en måte by Torirot Design
I realize now that I didn't get a picture of the inside of the thumb which has the cutest stars on it - oh well not going back out for more pictures - you'll have to use your imagination :)
Enough leftovers (including browns/olives) for another Waterville Hat which I will start very soon...
Next Mystery Mittens start in October and they are designed by Rose Hiver (still need to make Water for Elephants socks!!) can't wait for this one!
