Quick Handspun Spruce Mittens

When I received my fall 2012 Mixed Blessing Fiber from FatCatKnits and saw this gorgeous combination of Gaia and Uranus, I knew I would spin them separately for some type of colorwork.

Although at 1st I thought I could make this fiber into a REAL QUICK project - oh such soft soft merino - why bother spinning and knitting?

But I did - 185 yards of regular 3 ply worsted weight yarn - in each colorway (total 370 yards from 150 grams - 5.2 ounces)

Knit very quickly into this super soft warm Spruce Mittens that fit everyone in our family :)

We had a nice big snowstorm yesterday and it's beautiful, sunny day here in MA today, so I interrupted snow shoveling and coerced Dave into being my hand model...

Pattern: Spruce Mittens from Favorite Mittens by Robin Hansen. (My 8th pair of mittens from this excellent book!)
Size: WM ( 60 stitches) - Mine are 10.5" from cuff to tip and 9" circumference
Yarn: 3.5 ounces handspun merino from FatCatKnits (Mixed Blessing Fiber Club fall 2012 Uranus/Gaia)
Needles: 3.25 mm circular

This is a mindless 4 stitch - 2 round repeat - easy as can be! (except for the weird thumb directions int this book - which I'm never sure if I do right)
