Quaternity Mittens

When I found out that Rose Hiver was going to be the designer for the I Make Mittens October Mystery Mitten, I knew I would make them! I still need to make Water for Elephant Socks!

Started with this beautiful bfl/silk fiber from FatCatKnits in Deep Sea colorway

Spun into regular 3 ply fingering weight yarn

then combined it with Knit Picks Palette for some pretty colorwork mittens

Pattern: Quaternity by Rose Hiver
Yarn:47 grams handspun FatCatKnits BFL/Silk in Deep Sea and 35 grams Knit Picks Palette in Hare Heather
Needles: US 1 (2.25 mm) 40" circular
Size: Adult - 8 3/4" circumference; 11 1/2" cuff to tip - 76 stitches around
Mods: Shortened the tip of both the mitten and the thumb to fit my hand, but otherwise followed pattern exactly as written - and it was a VERY well written pattern!

Never easy to be the photographer and model!

Viewing the back of the hand stitch pattern - Depending on how you look at it - there are stars or 4 petaled flowers. Also different patterns if you keep looking - kind of like a quilt. I also really like the braids - sets the cuffs off beautifully.

The chickens don't want to be left out - I think in their mind, that weird looking hand may just have food in it!
They spent today digging up my garlic as fast as I could plant it - bet they can't find all 200 cloves though :)

If you have comments or questions or want to contact me for any reason, just email or contact me on Ravelry. Thanks :)
