At a Standstill

I'm not healing due to "non compliance" - It's very difficult to STOP knitting, quilting (rotary cutting has not been a good thing!) and computering (very painful) as long as I'm involved with blogging/Ravelry/Yahoo groups etc......So for now, I'm stepping aside.

Here is where things are at this moment in time.

Magnificent Mittens
Pretty Magnificent Mitten Tips - these will be beauties someday!

Crumbs
This is the project that I am LOVING right now and it will be hard to let go - I have used up my entire big box of tiny scraps making this crumb quilt - It will be the 1st thing I work on when I return to fiber crafts!

roll roll cotton boll
Only need to quilt and bind Roll Roll Cotton Boll mystery scrap quilt.

Child Log Cabin
all but the last 2 sides of the binding done on this bright child's charity quilt

Pinwheel fabric
Just pulled this fabric to make a baby quilt for a friend - yikes, hope I'm back in action before the babe is born!

Kaffe Fassett
I've been afraid of Kaffe Fassett fabric, but I decided to "go for it"

There you have it - Not easy to STOP when I have all these fun projects in the making - I'll be back...hopefully soon :-)

Galactic Explosion

I've been slowly working on Galactic Explosion (perfect name!) for a year and LOVE the bright and beautiful final quilt. Using black and white fabrics as a background makes it quite lively - coupled with the bright hot fabrics and the dancing stars in the border -this quilt has definitely got some pizzazz!

Galactic Explosion Quilt

Pattern: Galactic Explosion a free BOM by Nancy Rink - love love her designs!!!
Size: 87" X 87" - plenty big when trying to squeeze it through my machine!
Fabric: Nancy's Fabrics supplemented with stash (I chose to make the "warm" version)
Method: Machine pieced/Machine quilted with gentle curves

The quilting is more visible in the photo below with the sun at an angle - random gentle curves - my often used quilting method on big quilts.

a little closer view of the quilting and a peek at the backing fabric

The perfect final touch - a tiny 1/4" black and white flange just before the binding - I LOVE this special ending!

Galactic Explosion Quilt

A final picture draped on the couch before it moved to the bed - livens up the bedroom for sure!

Thank you Nancy for a fantastic block of the month project!!!
