Quick Little Binding Kit

I used the leftovers from my Vernal Equinox Quilt to make this adorable little binding kit.

Binding Kit

It only took part of the afternoon - a very quick project. Not often I start and finish something on the same day! I followed this great tutorial on Lella Boutique, which I discovered via A Quilting Life. My only modifications were that I added interfacing between the backing and the batting for a little more stability and I made a tiny square pocket instead of a strawberry.

Now when I get ready to sew on my binding, I can just grab this little pack and everything is ready and waiting for me.

I already love handsewing binding on my quilts - now it will be even more fun!

A Bit of a Backlog

I've decided not to update my knitting and spinning over the past 2 years since it is all available on Ravelry, but I do want to show you a few quilts that I've made before getting on to the current quilts and knits in progress.

I completed Stars over Bali Skies last fall and it is now our bed quilt - makes me like to make the bed each morning :)

Pattern: Stars Over Bali Skies designed by Charlotte Humphrey
Size: 76 " X 86"
Fabric: bali and batik fabrics
Method: Machine pieced/Machine quilted with gentle curves

It was fun to get the diagonal flow of shading right on this quilt - lots of placement decisions! I love bali/batik fabrics and they make this quilt sing. I used up a lot of my own bali scraps on this one in addition to the very generous Stitchen' Heaven BOM fabrics.

Vernal Equinox Quilt

I'm deep into quilting and need to keep track of it all somewhere (I wish Ravelry would allow quilting projects!), so I'm opening up this site again.

This quilt uses all Kaffe Fassett fabrics and is way out of my usual quilting comfort zone, but I love it!

Pattern:Vernal Equinox by Aardvark Quilts
Size: 50 " X 58 "
Fabric: Kaffe Fassett
Method: Machine pieced/Machine quilted with gentle curves

I wanted a smaller quilt, but wanted to make all the triangles for fabric variety, so I resized to a smaller 5" tall triangle - perfect size lap quilt!

Here is a close up - I quilted it with my usual all over gentle curves.
